Ryan Prater and Vino III claims victory in the Horses and Hound Foxhunter second round

Day five of the Summer Spectacular show held at Weston Lawns Equitation in Warwickshire hosted the Horse & Hound Foxhunter second round. This class saw ninety seven starters all fighting it out for the two Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) qualification tickets that were up for grabs. Thirty one combinations made it into the first jump off which saw only twelve jump clear and go forward to the final jump off.

It was Bedfordshire based Ryan Prater that came out on top riding Suzanne Heath’s nine year old grey gelding Vino III. Being one of only three treble clears round the testing track Ryan came home with a jump off time of 42.71 seconds to take the first HOYS tickets.

Taking the other HOYS qualification and second place was Norfolk based Portia Howard. Portia was partnering Alison Claxton’s seven year old chestnut mare Zafira-Utopia who jumped a clear in the final jump off in a time of 45.15 seconds.

The only other treble clear went to Powys based Amanda Forster riding Castell Sport horse’s seven year old dark bay stallion Zanzibar V. Drawn first to go in the jump off Amanda jumped a careful clear in a time of 51.11 seconds which left her in third place.
